Climbing Experience

Climbing is a skill that we can all possess.  The development of this skill comes with practice, which in all cases will contain an element of misadventure, falling out of a tree, tumbling down the stairs or merely not making that top step.

Climbing is an activity that contains an inherent sensation of risk, the risk of falling.

Young people will learn that falling is safe when attached to a rope, and that it is part of the 'Climbing Experience'.

Using the natural features of Dartmoor and Exmoor, young people will be faced with the challenge of working together as a team to overcome the challenge of a rock face.  The focus is not purely on climbing but the safety measures needed as a team to ensure a rock face is scaled safely and efficiently.  All team members during this day will have the opportunity to undertake climbs of varying severity and experience an abseil.

What is included in the day?

  • 10 - 15 climb's of varying difficulty.
  • 1 or 2 chances to learn how to abseil.
  • Instruction on knot tying and rope techniques.
  • Instruction of climbing movement and technique.
  • The opportunity to safeguard your friend's life!
  • River Crossing by Zip Wire.
