Caving Experience
Going
underground is a privilege reserved for miners and scientists.
Think again, you also have the opportunity; that is if you are brave
enough!
What lies beneath is a common question asked by many young
people. The only way to explain the geological make-up of the
earth's surface is to go and have a look.
Situated close to Buckfastleigh, is an extremely child friendly caving
system known as Pridamsleigh. This cave network is a labyrinth of
chambers, pathways and underground pools. The fun lies in
accessing these underground features! Squeeze and wriggle through
the tight gaps, slip and slide down rock slides and duck under the rock
sump if you dare. Away from daylight, young people will have to
work as an isolated team to navigate safely back to the cave
entrance. Along the way, geological and historical facts will be
offered.
After the excitement in the cave, the clean up process begins! A
short clean off in the local stream will ensure everyone is
recognisable for the head count before driving home!
