Surf School
North Devon is a surfer's paradise. Miles of golden sand plays host to some of the best waves in the British Isles.
Surfing as a local sport can be difficult to access if you have no
friends or family willing to introduce you to the sea. Surf
School aims to introduce young people to the sport, equipping them with
basic skills to enable them to gain enjoyment and future interest
towards continuing the sport.
Links can be made with local surf organisations, to ensure interests are followed up.
Dependent on the weather conditions, qualified surf instructors will
select a venue suitable for the young peoples needs. This will
always take the form of a gently sloping sand beach for easy access and
safety. Wave prediction is somewhat impossible, but even the
smallest of waves can provide a controlled environment for learning.
All young people will be supplied with a full wet suit, boots and
gloves if required, and be presented with their own surf board.
Due to the nature of surfing, the British Surf Association specifies
that no more than 10 young people are permitted against each
instructor. This ensures maximum safety and instructional
attention for all concerned.
Don't forget to bring some money for the ice-cream van!
